How the STL weight estimate is calculated

The tool computes the exact solid volume of your mesh, then models a typical print: solid outer walls (~1.2 mm) plus your chosen infill percentage inside. Multiply by the material's density and you get grams; divide by the cross-section of 1.75 mm filament and you get meters. It's the same math slicers use for their material estimates, without installing or configuring anything.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my slicer show a different weight?
Slicers know your exact wall count, top/bottom layers, supports and brim. This estimate uses a typical 1.2 mm shell, so expect the slicer number to land within roughly ±15% of it.
Does it work for resin prints?
Yes. Pick the resin preset and set infill to 100% for solid parts, or lower it if you hollow your models before printing (resin prints are usually hollowed to 2-3 mm walls).
