GrandpaCAD gets a European boost: EUR 72,000 for development

We have news that's hard to play humble about. GrandpaCAD was selected for P2 2026, the startup incentive run by the Slovene Enterprise Fund, which means up to EUR 72,000 in co-funding for building out the platform.

What we're building

Until now you picked the generation mode yourself. CAD mode for precise functional parts, Organic mode for figurines and sculpted shapes. Hybrid mode took that choice away: the chat works out what you're after and routes your description to the right generator. That one landed earlier than we planned.

Next up is Agent mode. It breaks your description down on its own, inspects the geometry it generated, fixes what's broken, and hands back a model that's ready to print. Less fixing, more printing. It's in testing right now, and the European support is what gets it finished and shipped to everyone.

Why we're doing this

Almost half of 3D printer owners can't model. They have the printer, they have the idea, and then they hit a wall with CAD software. GrandpaCAD removes that wall: you write what you need and get a precise, print-ready model. A spare part for the washing machine, a drawer handle, a figurine for the shelf. No engineering degree, no weekend lost to tutorials.

Behind it sits the part that's genuinely hard: turning a plain sentence into real geometry, with holes, threads and tolerances that actually fit once the part comes off the plate. That's where the money goes, into that know-how and the people building it.

Nearly 2,000 people have tried the platform so far and generated over 5,000 models. With European support we can push harder on more languages, more integrations, and 3D modelling that works for people who aren't engineers.

About the co-funding

The operation is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), under the European Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027. The operation was selected in the public call P2 2026 – Incentives for innovative startups, run by the Slovene Enterprise Fund. Total co-funding amounts to up to EUR 72,000.

The objective of the operation is the development and upgrade of a platform for automatic AI 3D model generation, maintaining and growing employment, and commercialising the service on the global market. The result is accessible 3D modelling for users without an engineering background.
